Services for Carol A. Peck to be held Monday, October 11
Carol Peck passed on October 2, 2021.
Carol spent a lifetime of service to communities in a broad range of settings. Carol worked variously with the blind, as a Montessori preschool teacher, and, along, with her husband Jim, she worked for several years as a youth center director. In addition, she was as an advocate for elderly housing, assisted migrant and seasonal farmworkers, and worked with victims of juvenile crime. For 23 years she worked for Catholic Charities USA, in Washington, D.C., and later in Alexandria, Virginia. While at Catholic Charities USA, Carol specialized in adoption issues in addition to those associated with human trafficking, well before it became a universally recognized important social issue.
Born September 9, 1946, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, to Alexander and Ann (Orsefski) David, Carol graduated from high school in Erie, Pennsylvania, and received a B.A. in sociology from nearby Mercyhurst College. She was also certified as a Montessori teacher by Montessori International in Philadelphia.
Carol is preceded in death by her brother Victor and her parents.
Carol is survived by her husband of 49 years of Davidsonville, Maryland, her sister Alexandra Peeler of Frederick, Maryland, and nieces and nephews in Washington, D.C., Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Maine, and California, all of whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s name to Anne Arundel Medical Center, Rebecca Fortney Breast Center (https://aahs.org/Breast-Center) or Inova Transplant Center (https://www.inova.org/our-services/inova-transplant-services)
