On Wednesday, January 19, MML staff joined MACo in support of House Bill 76 with amendments at the House Ways and Means Committee hearing. As introduced, the bill mandates that certain community solar projects be exempted from local personal property taxes. League staff reiterated our long-standing position that local governments should be given the flexibility to provide tax credits and exemptions in order to maintain a balanced budget while helping residents and businesses. Testimony included offering an amendment to make the bill authorizing rather than mandatory.
