Maryland's cities and towns host a variety landmarks and exhibits that reflect the rich African American history in municipalities throughout our state. During this Black History Month, the Maryland Municipal League is highlighting a handful of those, one of which is North Brentwood's Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center. The museum celebrates Black history in Prince George's County with exhibits, workshops, and events.
The Town of North Brentwood was Prince George's County's first African American settlement, and the museum is the culmination of efforts by the North Brentwood Historical Society to preserve and honor Black history and culture and inspire new generations of Marylanders. Although currently closed due to the pandemic, the museum has posted a series of virtual tours perfectly timed for Black History Month.
