MML Summer Conference Reminders

It’s Almost Here!

Appointments are not needed to visit the Expo hall. 

Visit and enjoy as you have in past years.  


Program - MML is offering a packed program with sessions designed by municipal leaders for municipal leaders.

Review the conference schedule prior to getting your registration materials in Ocean City to help plan which workshops you want to attend and enable you to coordinate your schedule with other officials from your municipality so that all sessions are covered. You can also view the program on MML’s conference app and create your own schedule after you decide which sessions to attend.

Note that for workshops this year, the MML conference app and website will be the only way to access copies of presenter PowerPoints and other traditional workshop handouts. In addition, session descriptions and speaker bios are available exclusively through the conference app.

Preliminary Schedule

Registration – The attendee registration desk will be located in the Convention Center Box Office, gray carpeted area on your left at the front of the building as you walk in..

The Expo registration desk will be located in the Convention Center lobby, on your right as you walk in.

The Registration desks will be open during the following hours:

  • Sunday, June 27 from 12 noon to 4:00 pm
  • Monday, June 28 from 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday, June 29 from 8 am to 4:00 pm

Please Note: Onsite registrations will not be available this year.

Welcome Reception, Sunday evening, 5:00 – 6:00 at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, 10100 Coastal Hwy.

Closing “Aloha, Not Good-bye” Reception, Tuesday evening, 6:00 – 7:30 at the Princess Royale Oceanfront Resort, 9100 Coastal Hwy.

Please also note: Both Receptions are ticketed events, tickets must be purchased in advance.

Attendees Group 1 and Group 2 – To allow better distancing attendees will be divided into two groups. Same access, same sessions.

Covid-19 – Precautions have been taken to keep people safe. We ask you wear a face mask at all times unless seated at a meal.  

To reduce contact there will be no hardcopy handouts provided. Informational documents, schedules, speakers, and alerts will be located on the mobile app. App details coming very soon

Mobile App - The app provides access to the conference schedule, session descriptions and alerts, presenter and exhibitor profiles, polls, evaluations, and maps. You can also share your own tweets and photos, plus send messages of interest to other attendees throughout the three-day event. Details soon.

Keynote - Plan to attend MML’s opening general session on Monday, June 28 at 8;30 am to see and be inspired by Mr. Daryl Davis - You don't want to miss hearing what he has to say! Mr. Davis is a Blues pianist, author, and actor. He is best known for infiltrating the Klan in his effort to confront racial prejudice, which includes convincing several members to leave and denounce the KKK.  On Tuesday, at 8:30 attend the MML Business Meeting followed by the Honorable Larry Hogan, Maryland State Governor. 

Expo - The Expo is open for business. Explore the wide array of products and services along with Municipal Main Street on display. Review the list of exhibitors now and plan your time in the expo hall. The hall will be open on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 29 from 10:00 am - 4 pm.  Preview the current exhibitor list

Children and Guests will not be permitted in the expo areas at anytime this year due to social distancing efforts.

Badges - Current-year MML name badges will be required for admission to all summer conference workshops, general sessions, and the expo areas. Door monitors will be at the entrance to all sessions.  Only those wearing a 2021 MML name badge will be admitted.

What do I wear? - Temperatures in Convention Center meeting rooms vary. For your personal comfort, take a sweater or light jacket to all events.  Comfortable walking shoes are also recommended by your Conference Planning Committee members! Casual attire is suggested for all conference events including the Welcome Reception Sunday evening on the beach at the Clarion Hotel.

There IS Such a Thing As A Free Ride!

Need a Lift? - As the host town for MML's summer conference, Ocean City's Mayor and Council have generously agreed that MML conference attendees can ride Ocean City's buses free of charge on June 27, 28, and 29. Just show your MML conference name badge to the bus driver.  MML attendees ride free. The Convention Center bus stop is on Coastal Highway. Riders will walk from the highway to the Convention Center. Buses run at 20-minute intervals from 6 am to 3 am, no service from 3 am to 6 am (subject to change). For handicapped bus service, call (410) 723-1607 at least one hour in advance. OC Website. Please take advantage of this hassle-free way of getting to MML conference activities at the Convention Center! Allow extra time. All bus passengers must wear a mask and remain seated. No standing riders.

Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum - As an added benefit this year, your MML badge will gain you free entrance to the The Ocean City Museum is located at the south end of the Boardwalk on the Inlet.  It was built in 1891 to serve as a Life-Saving Service station and became a Museum in 1978.  Experience the lives of the heroic men who watched for ships in peril and saved many sailors and travelers.  View memorabilia of Ocean City from the late 1800's to the present.  'Hang ten' in our Surfin' exhibit.  Learn about the ladies who kick-started Ocean City into the visitor destination it is today.  And be certain to visit our aquarium room to see many local water critters.  Visit their website at www.ocmuseum.org
